Ashitaba is a plant that literally means "tomorrow's leaf" because of its rapid growth and regenerative properties. I was born in IZU Peninsula in Japan where the nutritious plant originates. In fact, my father’s hometown has been called the longevity village. In childhood and spending summers with my grandparents, I often swam in the sea and picked Ashitaba to eat marinated with sweet Miso and vinegar. Ashitaba reminds me of my great childhood in nature and is a symbol of hidden healthy Japanese foods for me. I would like to introduce you to such genuine Japanese foods through my sightseeing tours.
